Glenn Moger

Glenn

Mr Moger started training in Taekwondo on 7th September 1980 at the Kingsdown Sports Centre in Bristol. The Taekwondo association was then the UKTA headed by Master Ri Ki Ha, an ex Korean service man who introduced Taekwondo to the UK. Taekwondo back then was a strict military martial art.

Glenn has always had a fascination with the oriental culture so was excited to start this new Korean martial art. The main idea was to gain self defence awareness but it wasn't long before he realised that Taekwondo had so much more to offer.

He continued to train with the UKTA for some years. Glenn then spent several years in Germany and took a break from Taekwondo but on his return to the UK he was encouraged by a work colleague to resume training.

"There must be something about Taekwondo because even after 27 years I still enjoy attending training sessions."

Glenn has always had a passion of competing in the sporting arena. He has reatained an active sporting career during his Taekwondo training, winning county honours tournaments and a national team title. It was not Glenn's initial path to enter into Taekwondo as a sportsman and makes no mention of his successes in competition but still enjoys the sporting side of Taekwondo and still supports the tournaments as a competitor and umpire.

Qualifying as a Taekwondo Instructor has provided Glenn with the opportunity to pass on his knowledge of martial arts to his students and enjoy their progess and successes. Glenn joined the Kingswood academy as a 1st degree black belt and since gained his 2nd and 3rd degree black belt as well as qualifying as an instructor.

On 10th September 2000, Mr Skidmore & Mr Moger has the great honour of attending the ITF 169th International instructors course hosted by PUMA and was conducted by Major Genereal Choi Hong Hi - 9th degree black belt and the founder of Taekwondo, making this the highlight of his Taekwondo career.

Since moving from the old association to PUMA in September 2000, Glenn has achieved the following,

  • Certified ITF 169th International Instructor Course 10th September 2000
  • 1st Degree Black Belt 14th October 2000
  • Qualified Umpire 3rd February 2001
  • Qualified Assistant Instructor 12th November 2002
  • 2nd Degree Black Belt 9th October 2005
  • Qualified Instructor 13th May 2006
  • 3rd Degree Black Belt 2007

As a DES TKD/PUMA student and instructor, Glenn has had many opportunities to progress and excel as a martial artist. In addition to this he has now set himself a new goal of working to achieve a Bo-Staff black belt. The Bo-Staff or Bong is a simple yet powerfulk ancient oriental weapon.

Mr Moger has trained with many other Taekwondo groups and firmly believes that PUMA has shown itself to be a positive and progressive association with equal opportunities which allows students to fulfil their potential.
